Squid Fishing Question ?
I am very interested in Squid Fishing. However i am still not sure how should i move my Rod and Reel to make the Squid Jig look lively in oder to increase the tendency of catching a Squid. Pls explain in details. Thanks a million:)
For squid lures, after your cast, make sure that you give the lure enough time to sink to the bottom of the area you're fishing. Some of the guys I watch like to give the lure an extra hard first jerk, I'm always worried about snagging on something, so I reel it up a little before I jerk. When I first started, I would just give them one jerk, reel up the slack, count to ten, then repeat. This is a basic pattern, but I have heard recently that doing a double jerk will not only jerk the lure up, it will turn the lure, giving it a more natural appearance.
Always watch the slack in your line!
If you're interested in other ways to catch squid, try the Japanese method they call "yaen" It's a great challenge, and if you do it right, you can get big squid! You tie a horse mackerel onto your line, cast it out and wait for a bite. Once you get a squid bite you attach the yaen to your line. It slides down your line to the squid and if your timing is right, the yaen will hook the squid.
